Pilgrims undertake a trek to reach the temple, often taking a dip in the natural thermal springs that surround it, believed to have therapeutic properties. From Yamunotri, the journey continues to Gangotri, where the mighty river Ganga originates. Kedarnath: Abode of Lord Shiva

The Char Dham Yatra then takes pilgrims to Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, where Lord Shiva is worshiped in his ancient form. Located in Rudraprayag district, Kedarnath is known for its spiritual aura and challenging terrain. Pilgrims often travel on foot, ride horses or use helicopters to reach the Kedarnath temple located amidst the high peaks of the Himalayas. The final destination of the Char Dham Yatra is Badrinath, a place dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Badri Narayan. Located on the banks of the Alaknanda River, this temple is one of the 108 Divya Deshams, important temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that by visiting Char Dham Yatra, a person's soul is freed from sins and attains spiritual purification. It is a journey that tests one's physical and mental stamina, which not only provides religious significance but also provides an opportunity for self-discovery and inner peace.

Best time to visit Char Dham:

Although Char Dham Yatra opens only for six months (April to November) and remains closed for six months in winter due to excessive snowfall. The ideal time for Char Dham Yatra is during the summer months when the weather is more favorable for travel in the higher altitude areas of the Himalayas. Pilgrims can undertake this holy journey between April and November. My Personal Opinion:- Please avoid This journey during rainy season (July - September) as landslides occur frequently on the hills during the rainy season.

Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Tehri → Dharasu → Yamunotri → Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Gaurikund → Kedarnath → Joshimath → Badrinath.
